An naval document signed "Philip", two pages, 6" x 8", [n.p. but aboard the H. M. S. "Magpie" and possibly in port at Malta], July 7, 1951. As Commanding Officer, Philip approves maintenance on the ship from July 4-11, 1951. Evenly toned, slight roughness to right edge from disbinding.

The notes read, in small part: "...WED 4th July. Tested navigation circuits. Completed monthly fan insulations. Assembled 4 1/2" supply fan armature...FRI. 6th July REGATTA MARMARIS...SAT. 4th [sic, 7] July. Replaced 4 1/2" supply fan in officer's galley. Pipe down...MON 9th July. Commenced weekly fan routines. Started re-covering of...circuit with Kersey Green...heads removed for stripping, after being filled with salt water during 'refill boarders'"…", and so forth.

Philip commanded the HMS Magpie from September 2, 1950 - 1953, after which was made Admiral of the Fleet and retired from the Royal Navy. The Magpie, pennant number U82, was a Black-Swan class frigate launched in 1943 and decommissioned in 1959.

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021) was the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. As such, he served as the consort of the British monarch from Elizabeth's accession as queen on February 6, 1952 until his death, making him the longest-serving royal consort in history. Philip was born in Greece, into the Greek and Danish royal families; his family was exiled from the country when he was eighteen months old. After being educated in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, he joined the Royal Navy in 1939. Philip is the longest-lived male member of the British royal family. He retired from his royal duties on August 2, 2017 at age 96.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
