Pearl Harbor Lot of 3 WWII Medal of Honor Recipients K.I.A.: Tomich, Bennion, & Cannon
Archive
A collection of three signed items from World War II heroes that were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The lot consists of three cut signatures, featuring autographs by Chief Watertender Peter Tomich, Captain Mervyn S. Bennion, and Lieutenant George Ham Cannon. Varying degrees of age toning, creasing, and edge wear throughout. Otherwise, very good. A rare grouping!

The lot includes:

1.) Peter Tomich cut signature, measuring 3.5" x 1.5". Taken from the return address of an envelope, written in his hand: "Peter Tomich/ 5800 Woodland Ave./ Philadelphia, Penn." Born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, he moved to the U.S. in 1913. Tomich enlisted in both WWI and WWII, and was killed in action aboard the U.S.S. Utah during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

2.) Mervyn Bennion cut signature, measuring approximately 6.5" x 2". Taken from the back flap of an envelope, the Captain signs his name as "Mervyn S. Bennion", with the return address also in his hand. A U.S. Naval Captain, Bennion was commander of the U.S.S. West Virginia, where he was killed in action during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Accompanied by a 5.5" x 3" postcard depicting the battleship.

3.) George Ham Cannon signed yearbook page, measuring 3" x 5". Signed "George H. Cannon" in green ink next to his photograph- the page also features the signatures of 7 of his classmates. A lieutenant of the U.S. Marine Corps., Cannon was killed in action on December 7th and became the first WWII marine to receive the Medal of Honor.
