George Dunton Widener (1861-1912) was an American businessman who died in the sinking of the Titanic. Widener joined his father's successful electric streetcar business and eventually took over the running of the Philadelphia Traction Company, overseeing operations. He also served on the board of directors of several important area businesses, including Philadelphia Traction Company. A patron of the arts, he was a director of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 1912, Widener, his wife, Eleanor, and their son, Harry, traveled to Paris with original intentions to find a chef for Widener's new Philadelphia hotel, the Ritz Carlton. They booked their return passage on RMS Titanic. After the ship struck the iceberg, Widener placed Eleanor and her maid in a lifeboat. They were rescued by the RMS Carpathia, but Widener, Harry, and their valet, Edwin Keeping, perished. Their bodies, if recovered, were not identified.

Millvina Dean (1912-2009) was a British civil servant and cartographer, drawing maps for the British government during World War II. At two months old, she was the youngest passenger aboard RMS Titanic. The Dean family was not originally supposed to be on board the Titanic, but due to a coal strike, they, along with many other passengers, were transferred onto the Titanic and boarded as third-class passengers at Southampton, England. Dean was nine weeks old when she boarded the ship. Her father felt its collision with the iceberg and, after investigating, returned to his cabin, telling his wife to dress the children and go up onto the deck. Dean, her mother, and her brother were placed in Lifeboat 10. Her father did not survive, and his body, if recovered, was never identified.
