Bulger, James "Whitey" (1929- ) Whitey Bulger, convicted murderer and organized crime boss in Boston, signs a photograph of rusty, paint-peeling cells at Alcatraz, with a lengthy description wishing he was still in prison to repaint and "the only screw I liked on the Rock - he ran the Laundry and 10 convicts all 'Trouble in the past'... was the gentle animal trainer... off Limits to hurt him."

Photograph Signed "James Whitey Bulger 1428 AZ " on verso with lengthy Autograph Note on verso. Color, 6" x 4". Photograph of rusty, paint-peeling cells at Alcatraz. Bulger served at Alcatraz from 1959-1962; his Alcatraz prison number was 1428. Fine condition.

In full, "Seeing the Rust and peeling paint just saddens me - wish it was still a prison and I could be sent there to finish up these. My old Alma Mater - Learnt a lot there and miss the convicts and Bloomie only screw [prison guard] I liked on the Rock - he ran the Laundry and 10 convicts all 'Trouble in the past' and Bloomie was the gentle animal trainer. In here we looked out for him - off Limits to hurt him - wait till hes on vacation and do what you want. Years later on Trip to West Coast I'd take Bloomie out to dinner. Great Guy."
