A diverse collection of material relating to notable actors and comedians of Hollywood's Golden Age, consisting of (3) signed contracts, (1) ALS, and (8) signed photographs, the majority of which have been inscribed "To the Macfarlanes". Totaling 68pp amongst 12 individual pieces, ca. 1933-1948. Signatories include Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Betty Grable, Bert Lahr, and Lionel Barrymore, among others. Exhibits varying degrees of age toning, scattered handling marks, and areas of isolated creasing. Expected wear to corners and edges throughout. Otherwise, very good.

The lot includes:

- Katharine Hepburn ALS on monogramed stationary to Mr. [Ellis Adams] Gimbel, ca. 1933, 5.75" x 4.5". Reading in full: "I can't tell you how much I appreciate your sending me the Amelia Earhart medal- I was deeply touched, and I shall enjoy having it. It was tremendously nice of you to think of sending that particular thing to me."

- Cary Grant signed studio contract for the role of "Henri Rochard" in "I was a Male War Bride" (1949). 18pp, 8.5" x 11", Beverly Hills, CA, July 23, 1948. Boldly signed on the last page by Grant. Housed within its original blue folder from Twentieth Century-Fox.

- (2) Betty Grable studio contracts, one for the leading role in "The Shocking Miss Pilgrim" (1947) and another for the role of "Stormy" in "How to be Very, Very Popular". Dated November 19, 1945 & January 20, 1955 respectively. The first signed by Grable on page 25, with the second featuring signatures on page 2 and 15. Both housed within their original folders.

- Bert Lahr signed photo, 8" x 10".

- Mary Pickford signed and inscribed photographic engraving, 8" x 10".

- Lionel Barrymore signed and inscribed photo, 3.5" x 5".

- Charlie Ruggles signed and inscribed photo, 5" x 7".

- Beatrice Lillie signed and inscribed photo, 8" x 10".

- Hugh Herbert signed and inscribed photo, 5" x 7".

- Georgia Gibbs signed and inscribed photo, 4.75" x 6.75".

- Shirley Ross signed and inscribed photo, 5" x 7".

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
