O.J. Simpson's Personally Owned Cross Examination Book, Ex. Simpson Estate
Books

O.J. Simpson's softcover legal supplement titled Excellence in Cross-Examination (2017 Supplement) by famed defense attorney F. Lee Bailey and Massachusetts Superior Court Justice Kenneth J. Fishman, issued by Thomson Reuters. This supplement features a dedicated chapter (Chapter 20) analyzing Bailey's legendary cross-examination of Detective Mark Fuhrman during the O.J. Simpson murder trial—widely regarded as a masterclass in courtroom strategy. This very copy was personally owned by O.J. Simpson, one of the most controversial and widely known public figures of the late 20th century. Measures 6" x 9.5".

The O.J. Simpson estate initially sold these items to pay off part of the debt owed to the family of Ronald Goldman. Interestingly, and now famously, a bible gifted to Simpson by Robert Kardashian sold in his estate sale for $80,276. Kim Kardashian had tried to purchase the bible privately before the sale took place, with an offer of $15,000 which was ultimately declined.

This lot will be accompanied by a copy of the Goldin Auctions auction certificate, who initially worked with the Simpson estate.

F. Lee Bailey (1933–2021) was one of the most prominent defense attorneys of the 20th century, renowned for his sharp courtroom intellect and famous clients, including Sam Sheppard, Patty Hearst, and O.J. Simpson. In the 1995 "Trial of the Century," Bailey's cross-examination of LAPD Detective Mark Fuhrman—whose credibility collapsed under scrutiny—proved pivotal in securing Simpson's acquittal. Chapter 20 of this legal supplement, titled "Cross-Examination in Criminal Cases—Detective Fuhrman in the O.J. Simpson Trial," outlines the techniques, strategy, and context of Bailey's performance. That O.J. Simpson personally retained this legal volume decades after the trial speaks to its significance in both his life and legal history.
