NY Art Dealer's Collection of 30+ Original Metal Etching Plates from Picasso, Rouault, Laurencin & Others!
Archive

A superb set of original etching plates from the collection of a well-known and preeminent New York art collector, numbering 31 plates in total. In the collection are metal and copper plates created by some of the world's most famous modern artists: Pablo Picasso, Georges Rouault, Marie Laurencin, Jacques Villon, Leonard Baskin, and others. The collection of plates includes the works of 19 identified artists. The metal plates were designed and drawn by the artists, making each a one-of-a-kind original work of art. A fraction of these plates have been signed; a technical note: when an artist signs their name into the metal etching plate (this is the artist's original signature!), the prints that come from those plates are said to be "signed in plate" or "plate signed".

The artists featured in this diverse collection were/are American, French, Spanish, German, Hungarian, Dutch, Mexican, and Taiwanese, who flourished from the 19th/20th C. This museum-quality collection was acquired by an experienced art collector who often associated directly with the artists or their ateliers. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition. The plates range in size from 4.125" x 3.325" at the smallest, to 13" x 21.325" at the largest.
