Nixon and Ford Signed Letters, "a new era...marked by the rapid spread of democracy...and new diplomatic alignments and coalitions"

This fantastic presidential lot with Watergate ties includes:

1.) TLS, 7.1875” x 10.5”, dated June 19, 1991, Beaver Creek, CO on Gerald Ford letterhead with an embossed Presidential seal, addressed to Mrs. Joseph Lieberman, the wife of the future Vice Presidential candidate. Great condition, excellent large signature.

In part: “As we embark on our tenth Forum, a new era is plainly taking shape, marked by the rapid spread of democracy and free-market institutions, shifting military priorities, and new diplomatic alignments and coalitions. The opportunity the Forum provides to reflect in depth on this newly emergent world with representatives of eighteen nations is unique indeed, and I look forward to a lively and rich exchange of ideas.”

TLS, 6.1875” x 8.125”, dated July 1, 1966, Washington D.C., on Gerald Ford House Minority Letterhead, addressed to Robert “Bob” Perry, a large political donor and “the lead financier” of “the smearing of 2004 Democratic presidential candidate [John] Kerry with accusations he made false claims about his service in Vietnam" - The Guardian. Expected fold, else great, bold signature.

In part: "All of us to whom you have been so helpful for so many years and who have benefitted immeasurably from your kindness, miss you greatly and look forward to seeing you back at your "post" real soon."

3.) TLS, 7.25” x 10.5”, October 26, 1979, San Clemente, CA on Richard Nixon's personal letterhead, addressed to Herman C. Owings. Within, Nixon thanks Owings for his friendship and extends his best wishes. Tape marks, foxing, bold signature. Please see photos.

In full: "Dear Mr. Owings: / This is just a note to tell you how much Mrs. Nixon and I appreciate your letter of August 10th. We will always be grateful for your expression of friendship, and we join in sending our very best wishes. / Sincerely, Richard Nixon".

Gerald R. Ford (1913-2006) served as the 38th U.S. President from 1974-1977. Ford was the only person to serve as president without being elected to either the presidency or the vice presidency. His presidency ended following his defeat in the 1976 presidential election by Democrat Jimmy Carter. He famously pardoned disgraced former 37th U.S. President Richard Nixon (1913-1994) in one of his first acts as chief executive.
