Bonaparte Napoleon

A bound collection of 27 engravings including 26 by the celebrated George Cruikshank, (22 hand-colored), measuring between 11.25" x 8.5"  to 13" x 8.5", most of which have been published by either John Fairburn or John Cumberland of London between 1823 and 1827. Bound in brown leather boards with a gilt-titled stamp on the recto: "JAMES NAPOLEON / HINXMAN / WOODS." Vertical creases with occasional minor fold separations, very light soiling, boards rubbed and very worn at edges, spine cracked and chipped, front cover detached, else very good condition overall.

 

The volume includes the following engravings, mostly based paintings by such artists as Carle Vernet, Jacques François Joseph Sweach-Desfontaines, Jean-Baptiste Isabey, and others: Napoleon Bonaparte on his Celebrated White Charger.
