Religious Relics
A seven-Relic, First Class Multireliquary housed in a hand-fashioned iron theca, sealed with red wax on the reverse, 75 x 83 mm. (3" x 3.25") oval, [either bone or flesh of] seven saints: St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Louis of Gonzaga, St. Francis of King, St. Francis of Borgia, St. Francis of Xavier, St. Stanislaus of Kostkae & Francis of Jerome. Assembled in 1883. Exterior of case is oxidized, but wax seal and string are intact.

With certificate of authenticity in Latin, roughly translated here in part: "… this present letter we make to all and singular the faith and bears witness to the Almighty, that We, for the greater glory of God, the veneration of the Saints and their relatives recognized some of the particles from the Religuies St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Louis Gonzaga, St. Francis King, S. Francis of Borgia, St. Francis Xavier, St. Stanislaus Kostkae & Francis about Jerome authentic places from which they extract, reverently placed in an iron box, oval crystal forms Modena well closed, silk cords connected to a green color and signed with our seal and sealed it with the ability to keep to themselves, and others to give, and in whatever diocese of our church, or Chapel of public veneration of the faithful, even the transfer. Their faith in these testimonial letters Vicar General Hostri signed, sealed and our fixed by the undersigned secretary ordered expedited. Remi has been given, the fourth day of the Divine, the month of December of the year 1883."

First-class relics are Items directly associated with the events of Jesus' life, or the physical remains of a saint (a bone, hair, a limb, etc.) Traditionally, a martyr s relics are often more prized than the relics of other saints.
