A card and its typed insert 2x signed by Saint Teresa of Calcutta (aka Mother Teresa) (1910-1997) as "lee Teresa." Expected wear including light scuffs, and it has also been glued shut. 5" x 7". Comes with a personalized form letter also signed by Mother Teresa at bottom, as well as an envelope postmarked from Washington, D.C. on May 16, 1994. Hand-stamped "Missionaries of Charity / 54 A, A. J. C. Bose Road / Calcutta - 700016 India" in the return address section flap verso. Letter-opened at top.

The form letter addressed to card recipient David R. Friedman shows Mother Teresa embracing a child, captioned with a biblical quote from Isaiah 49:15. On the back, Mother Teresa has signed a form letter reading in part: "Look around and see the loneliness, the pain in your own family first, then your neighbors and friend [sic] then the poor outside, do to them what you would like someone to do for you. Pray the rosary, allow Mary to lead you to Jesus. God loves you, give Him your heart to love him, your will to serve him…"

Mother Teresa, born Anjeze Gonxhe Bajaxhiu, was of Albanian-Indian heritage. She entered Roman Catholic religious orders in the early 1930s and served most of her life as a missionary in India. In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a worldwide religious organization devoted to succoring "the poorest of the poor." Mother Teresa's organization--whose ranks numbered 4,500 nuns in 2012--established orphanages, soup kitchens, schools, hospice, and hospitals for the underprivileged, societally abandoned, and dying. She won the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize for her work. Mother Teresa was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016.
