A collection of photographs and prints relating mainly to Mormonism and the Old West, with particular references to Brigham Young and various scenes of notable Frontier towns. Totaling 24 pieces in all, ca. 1880s-90s, with depictions of such cities as Santa Fe, Salt Lake City, and Denver. Varying degrees of darkened age toning, edge wear, and loss of mounts to some. Slight edge curling throughout. Overall good condition with a diverse and interesting group of images.

Highlights include:

-Two large 10" x 12" photographs depicting a group of men and women at a camp near Tomahawk [possibly Wisconsin]. Both docketed on verso: "Tomahawk July, 1889". Each image shows at least one man posing near a rifle.

-Two anti-Brigham Young caricature cards, each measuring 6.5" x 4.25". Both images deal with the subject of polygamy, showing a number of women sharing the same bed and fighting over their husband. Printed on outside margin of both: "Caricatures and Absurdities that have been published to ridicule the Latter-day Saints."

-A pair of cabinet photographs depicting a Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, each measuring 6.5" x 4.25". Both featuring the backstamp of photographer Junius Young (no relation) on verso.

-Cabinet card featuring Mormon temple in Salt Lake City, illustrated by C.W. Walker. Measuring 6.5" x 4.25". Printed caption adhered verso reading in part: "On the 28th of July, 1847, four days after the arrival of the pioneers in Salt Lake Valley, President Young set apart the present ten acre Temple Block as the future site of the Temple."

-Bird's eye view of Salt Lake City, measuring 6.5" x 4.25". Featuring backstamp of F.I. Monsen & Co. on verso.

-At least two cabinet photographs depicting the town of Sante Fe, New Mexico, each measuring 7" x 4.5". The first shows a street view with the Second National Bank in the background, while the second shows young men on burros, all of which are saddled.

-Group of six 6.5" x 4.25" illustrated prints depicting various views from the Utah Central Railroad and the Humboldt River, among other landmarks.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third Party Shipping Option: If a third party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
