Description:

Meyer Lansky’s Little Black Book Containing Many Clues About the Secrets & Contacts of the “Mob's Accountant”

Little Black Book, 2.5" x 3.125", no place, c.a. 1970, belonging to the famed mobster better known as "The Mobs Accountant," Meyer Lansky. The little black leather address book has gilt lettering on the front which reads "Addresses, Telephones", with the inside of the book filled in entirely by Meyer Lansky himself. When it comes to the Mob, contacts are everything, and many gangsters would spend a lot of time hiding who they were in contact with as to not give wind to the FBI what "Projects" they were working on. This book gives an inside look at the life of one of the most prolific mobsters of the 20th century, a gangster who controlled the finances for the entire mob. Incredible secrets that have been hidden for years could be found in this very book!

The book holds the contact information for many key Lansky contacts including:

"B. Sigelbaum": Probably Barbara Siegel, Bugsy's daughter, perhaps disguised in his book as "Sigelbaum". For over six decades it was believed that Lansky had Siegel killed after he blew through more than six times his $1 million budget while constructing one of Las Vegas’s first resorts – the Flamingo. Would the ruthless Lansky still be in contact with the famed mobster's daughter? It is well known that for many years, Lansky and his wife were friends with Bugsy's widow.

Morris Kleinman: Morris "Moe" Kleinman was a Jewish Cleveland mobster whose criminal career spanned the 1920s to the 1950s. Until the end of Prohibition, he was one of many Mafia figures who dealt in bootleg liquor. In the 1930s he moved into gambling and likely ordered the murder of Cleveland city councilman William Potter.

Sam Garfield: "The Minion to the Mob," Garfield was known for running major gambling and securities schemes, but his most important role was as an agent for these criminals as they laundered their ill-gotten gains into gambling establishments and, most of all, investments in oil discovery and exploitation. Sam played an important though little recognized role in making some of America’s biggest hoodlums into successful entrepreneurial gangsters.

Moses Polakoff: Famed lawyer who represented notorious underworld figures including Lucky Luciano and Lansky, himself.

Rabbi Swirsky: Lansky's Rabbi, who at the time of Lansky's death conducted the 15-minute service in Hebrew and English at Har Nebo Cemetery. Swirsky would eulogize Lansky as a man whose “heart beat for everybody.”

E.D. Rosen: Famed Florida attorney who defended Lansky   and is seen famously photographed with him outside the courtroom.

Sol Geltman: Former President for Casino Management Corp.

Cindy Duncan: Lansky's Step-Granddaughter

Joe Kelinson: Florida Lawyer.

"Bert": Possibly Robert Lacey, the Meyer Lansky biographer.

There are countless other names mentioned in Lansky's little black book that are worthy of additional research which would add significant value and historical significance to this unique piece of mafia history.

Meyer Lansky, known as the "Mob's Accountant", was an American organized crime figure who, along with his associate Charles "Lucky" Luciano, was instrumental in the development of the National Crime Syndicate in the United States.

On paper, at the time of his death, Lansky was worth almost nothing, although the FBI believed he left behind over $300 million in hidden bank accounts, but they never found any money. Today, in 2020, this would be equivalent to $668 million.
