Printing plate, measuring 9.5" x 14.5", New York, NY. A newspaper printing plate from Monday Morning, July 21, 1969, issued by the New York Daily News for .08 cents. This item offers us an exciting snapshot of man's first journey to the moon. The front cover of the newspaper emphasizes the success of the American astronauts. The image used for the front cover is not visible, but just under where the image was set reads "The first human beings on the surface of another sphere - the moon - raise the American flag in triumph." Some ink is still left on the printing plate. Expected wear including isolated scuffs to the printing face and minor corrosion with the bottom left edge missing, else near fine.

The Apollo 11 mission, which was the first successful mission to land a man on the moon, was launched into space on July 16th, 1969. The primary crew consisted of Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Armstrong and Aldrin were the first two humans to set foot on the moon on July 20th, 1969, with Armstrong famously stating, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." The mission was a success, and the crew safely returned to Earth on July 24th, 1969. The mission was hailed by people around the world as a landmark achievement in space exploration and a major victory for the United States in the Space Race.

All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.
