Marilyn Monroe PSA Certified CT Driver's License Signed "Marilyn Monroe Miller"

A driver's license belonging to Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962), boldly signed by her as "Marilyn Monroe Miller" on the operator's signature line. July 8, 1958. N.p. Encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified authentic. Printed on a yellow stock paper card with a blue guilloche pattern. "State of Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License" is printed at top, and bearing a multi-colored printed state seal at upper left. The reverse of the license, in a space reserved for change of address or court conviction details, is blank. Expected light weathering and wrinkles, else near fine. The overall size of the driver's license is 2.5" x 3.25" while the slab measures 3.125" x 5.25."

The driver's license lists the following printed information about Monroe: her name as "M M Miller"; her address as "Tophet Rd"; her town as "Roxbury CT"; her driver's operator number as "181034533"; her height as 5'5"; her date of birth as June 1, 1926; and various administrative details, such as the type of driver's license (1 - regular operator), fees paid ($6), and expiration date (June 30, 1960). Her blood type has not been specified.

Marilyn Monroe lived with her third husband, the playwright Arthur Miller (1915-2005), in Roxbury, CT from 1956-1961. The pair lived in a historic Revolutionary War-era farmhouse at 232 Tophet Road in Roxbury, in desirable Litchfield County.

Monroe likely carried this driver's license while driving her beloved 1956 Ford Thunderbird convertible. The sleek jet-black T-bird with a black and white interior was purchased in Westport, CT and presented to Monroe as a Christmas present in 1955 by her business partner Milton Greene. It was reported that Monroe and Miller drove this car to and from their civil ceremony and wedding in June 1956. Milton Greene's wife Amy, who often accompanied Monroe on drives, recounted of their trips in the Thunderbird: "We’d take the convertible and with the top down, we’d go sailing along the highway. We both liked to feel the wind in our faces and the warmth of the heater on our legs.”
