Marc Chagall inscribes an incredible lithograph, worthy of display, to photographer Arnold Newman. A total of 6 of the original lithos it makes up a large part of the desirable DerriŠre le Miroir. Museum quality

His signature and inscription "Pour Arnold Newman et Madame / en bon Souvenir / Marc Chagall / 1954" accomplished on the upper right corner of, the French art magazine DerriŠre Le Miroir, (Paris: Aim‚ Maegt, June, July, August, 1954) 12 pages, folio. Loose sheets in the original color illustrated wrappers. Spine chipped, some corner creases, else very good to fine condition.

Printed on the inside back cover: "A l'occasion de l'exposition PARIS Marc Chagall a ex‚cut‚ pour ce num‚ro triple de DerriŠre le Miroir 12 pages en lithographie" ("On the occasion of the exhibition PARIS Marc Chagall executed for this triple issue from DerriŠre le Miroir 12 pages in lithography.") This was triple issue "no 66-67-68.

DerriŠre le Miroir was published from 1946-1982. French art collector Aim‚ Maeght (1906-1981) was the founder, editor and publisher. Text in French by Marcel Arland.

Photographer Arnold Newman (1918-2006) is noted for his "environmental portraits" of artists and politicians. Chagall was one of his frequent subjects. Recent unsigned complete and near complete examples have fetched over $10,000 at auction.
