Description:

Johnson, Lyndon B. (1908-1973) "The Vantage Point," with an important association, warmly signed by Lyndon B. Johnson

Book Signed "Lyndon B. Johnson," and inscribed to Special Agent Cartha "Deke" DeLoach and his wife Barbara. "from their devoted friend-Lyndon Johnson." Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1971. Near fine book and dust jacket, 6.25" x 9.5". Strong red cloth boards with blue background for the titles to the front and spine. The book has sharp corners, one slightly pushed, and no edge wear. The binding is tight and square. Perfect condition, distinguished end papers. The pages are clean, bright and flat with the book internally appearing as unread. The original unrestored jacket is in beautiful condition with one small 1" intact tear and a slight touch of scuffing to the rear panel. Inner flaps have slight creasing, otherwise near fine. Unclipped with a stated price of $15.00. This copy also includes the personal bookplate of Carta and Barbara DeLoach on the blank page opposite the title page.

DeLoach was the last of the FBI's senior leaders from the turbulent civil rights era. He was a principal supervisor in the investigation of the murdered civil rights workers in the Mississippi Burning case.

"Deke" was a trusted adviser to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover who oversaw the investigation into the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and served as the Bureau's liaison to President Lyndon B. Johnson after John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963.

A handsome, clean copy of this title, with an important period association, boldly signed and inscribed in black felt tip by Lyndon Baines Johnson on a White House bookplate (bearing the presidential golden seal and his initials).
