1.) A signed, first edition American copy of The Favorite Game by Leonard Cohen (New York: Viking Press, 1963. 244p). Signed and inscribed on front end page "For Peter/ all good things/ Leonard/ Montreal May 31 1964". Original, unclipped dust jacket has been retained, with pages featuring red painted edges. A near fine example with slight bumping to cover.

2.) Unrevised proof of The Favorite Game by Leonard Cohen, printed by Viking Press. Features softcover GBC binding, unsigned. Typed label on front cover reads "Unrevised proofs. Confidential. Please do not quote for publication until verified with finished book." Exhibits minor soiling to cover, with varying degrees of minor creasing throughout. Scarce!

Leonard Cohen (1934-2016) was a Canadian singer-songwriter, poet, and novelist. Themes commonly explored throughout his work include faith and mortality, isolation and depression, betrayal and redemption, social and political conflict, and sexual and romantic love. Cohen's most famous song, "Hallelujah", was first released in 1984 and has since been performed by almost 200 artists worldwide. Although semiautobiographical, The Favorite Game became the first of Cohen's two novels, telling the story of the main character Lawrence Breavman as he goes through life and ultimately discovers love.
