Description:

Lee Harvey Oswald PSA Graded Photo, 2 Stills, Seconds Before Murder

A black and white photograph, measuring 8" x 10", Dallas, dated November 24, 1963. A UPI Telephoto of the seconds before Lee Harvey Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. With light creasing at the corners. Very fine. PSA Slabbed and Graded Type III, measuring 9.75" x 13" overall.

The photograph captures two stills of Oswald being led out of the police headquarters, with Ruby seen lifting his gun in the lower right corner. The caption reads in full: "DALLAS: Jack Ruby, (R) is shown seconds before pulling the trigger that killed Lee H. Oswald as he was being transferred from city to county jail." The photograph is numbered DAP112409. Stamped on verso "Lee H. Oswald", "Jack Ruby", and "Received Examiner Reference Library Nov 25 1963."

Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested at a Dallas movie theater just under two hours after President Kennedy had been shot. He was taken into custody and formally charged for the murder of Officer Tippet that evening, although he was also already suspected of the murder of the president. During his two days at Dallas Police Headquarters, Oswald was repeatedly interrogated but continued to claim he was innocent and a "patsy". On the morning of November 24, detectives escorted Oswald through the basement of police headquarters as a means to transfer him to nearby county jail. Oswald never made it to the armored car waiting for him; he was shot in the abdomen by Jack Ruby, fell into unconsciousness, and died two hours later at the same hospital where they had taken President Kennedy.
