Description:

Ruby Jack 1911 - 1967 Lee Harvey Oswald Killer Jack Ruby signed check drawn from a Dallas Texas bank

Signed check, 8" x 3" on beige paper drawn from The Mercantile National Bank at Dallas. Signed and dated by Jack Ruby "Sept 24, 1953", "Jack Ruby", and made out to "Film Forwarding Co." Fading to ink, else near fine. The check is written on the business letterhead of the Ervay Theatre

Jack Ruby's signed check from The Ervay Theatre, which he managed briefly in 1953. is probably best remembered for its owners and customers and not so much for its presentation. It was opened by three ex-GIs who didn't even place an ad for the Dec. 21, 1946 opening. It was operated for a short time by the notorious Jack Ruby in 1953. In addition shortly after this this period of Ruby's life the Warren Commission considered evidence that Jack Ruby had been involved in the typical underworld activities of gambling, narcotics, and prostitution. Three years later, a report from the FBI in 1956 stated that their informant Eileen Curry reported that in January of that year, she moved to Dallas with her boyfriend, James Breen, after jumping bond on narcotics charges. Breen told her that he had made connection with large narcotics set up operating between Texas, Mexico, and the East and that "in some fashion, James got the okay to operate through Jack Ruby of Dallas.

A great example of a signed check by an elusive Jack Ruby with his perpetually complicated past.
