King Hussein Gifts Gerald Ford a Unique Medal, Ex. Doyle, Ford Estate
Relic

Commemorative medal, issued by the Jordan Armed Forces in honor of the Martyrs Memorial Museum, presented by King Hussein to Gerald Ford in its striking red presentation case with white interior lining and embossed crown insignia. The large bronze-toned medallion features a crowned eagle with crossed swords and Arabic inscription on the obverse, encircled by a laurel wreath. The reverse depicts the facade of the Martyrs Memorial Museum in Amman, Jordan, with dual dating: "9 Shaban 1397" and "25 July 1977." The case and medal remain in excellent condition and are accompanied by a hanging provenance card from Doyle Auctions. The commemorative box measures 3.25" x 3.25" and is in fine condition.

Ex. Doyle, consigned by Jack Ford, son of President Ford who stated that this was a Gift from the King & Nation of Jordan.

This medal was presented during one of the high-profile diplomatic interactions between President Gerald R. Ford and King Hussein I of Jordan, whose mutual respect and cooperation marked a significant era in United States–Middle East relations. The Martyrs Memorial Museum was inaugurated in 1977 in Amman to commemorate fallen Jordanian soldiers. The medal commemorates this solemn dedication ceremony. Diplomatic gifts such as this medal were customary tokens of goodwill exchanged during these visits, symbolizing national pride and cultural heritage.
