Original label from the Ford estate sale remains affixed inside the case. Accompanied by a LOA from University Archives documenting Ford family provenance. The commemorative box measures 3.25" x 3.5" and is in fine condition.

The coin:

Obverse: Features the Coat of Arms of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, bordered by bilingual inscriptions in Arabic and English reading: "Jordan Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities."

Reverse: Depicts the iconic façade of The Monastery (Al-Deir) at Petra, one of Jordan's most celebrated UNESCO World Heritage sites. The imagery is flanked by the inscriptions "PETRA - JORDAN" and its Arabic translation.

Ex. Doyle, consigned by Jack Ford, son of President Ford who stated that this was a Gift from the King & Nation of Jordan.

This medal was presented during one of the high-profile diplomatic interactions between President Gerald R. Ford and King Hussein I of Jordan, whose mutual respect and cooperation marked a significant era in United States–Middle East relations. King Hussein made a state visit to Washington from August 15 to 18, 1974, becoming the first foreign head of state received by Ford after he assumed the presidency. The visit included a formal White House meeting and a state dinner in honor of King Hussein and Queen Alia. Their relationship continued with a private meeting at the White House on April 29, 1975, further emphasizing the strategic alliance and personal rapport between the two leaders. Diplomatic gifts such as this medal were customary tokens of goodwill exchanged during these visits, symbolizing national pride and cultural heritage.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
