King Charles III ALS "We are so thrilled" On the Birth of Prince Harry
ALS
An autograph letter signed by King Charles III of England as the Prince of Wales, alluding to the birth of his second son. 1 sheet, front and back, measuring 7" x 9" (sight), n.p., dated November 15, 1984. Signed "Charles" and written on Prince of Wales memorandum letterhead. Addressed to Lady Marre, Charles discusses the funding for several different projects and hints at, in the closing lines, to the recent birth of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. Matted and framed to the overall size of 14.25" x 16.25" and so that both sides are visible. Very fine, with a bold signature.

In full:
"Thank you so much for your letter. 1) I would be willing for the fund to pay the full cost if you get an application for one of these vehicle conversions. I think it would be a good thing to do. 2) I like the idea of asking Donald Dempsey to suggest an organization in the north to supervise the mobile holiday home project if the fund pays for it. 3) I hope Michael Colborne [Charles' private secretary] has returned the recommendations to you. I'm afraid I have been swamped with paper and I can't keep up! 4) I think it would be splendid if the fund could provide money to buy necessary equipment for the M.S. research projects. This would probably be preferable to paying salaries. 5) Thank you so much for your kind congratulations. We are so thrilled."

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex was born one month prior, on September 15, 1984. He was christened Henry Charles Albert David on December 21, 1984 at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, and as the younger son of King Charles III and Diana, Princess of Wales, Harry is fifth in the line of succession to the British throne.
