Description:

Kruschev Nikita

Six menus offered during Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev meeting at Camp David with President Eisenhower, dated "Sept 25-27, 1959". The two met to engage in several days of talks about the Cold War in an effort to achieve a better understanding of each other's position and to pave the road for peace. One menu is in English with the letterhead of "Camp David", typed in English with the Russian translation in blue pen, 7.25" x 10.5". Tiny stain spots with paper clip indention. The other five menus are typed in Russian, 8" x 10.5", each near fine, one with small pencil notes to the top noting the date in English. Inclusive of five carbons of the Russian menus. The menus will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the estate of the Hirschy family (see details below).

The first menu has handwritten English to Russian translations for a variety of liquors such as "Cherry Heering"[sic], "Crème de Menthe", "Crème de Cacao", "Cognac" and "Strega". The following menus, written completely in Russian, detail the items available for either breakfast or dinner during Khrushchev's summit meetings with President Eisenhower.

Fantastic historical pieces from the period of the Cold War.
