We got them made in France where they do excellent binding, for some of our friends here at home. This brief note brings you our best wishes for the happiest of New Year's!" Signed "Sarge", and dated December 25 1974.

Provenance:

From the Estate of Thomas J. Walsh, long-time Kennedy financial advisor and family friend.

In 1952, responding to a "blind" ad in the New York Times for a tax and real estate accountant, Walsh was hired by Joseph Kennedy to join the Park Agency, Inc., the Kennedy family's financial company which manages all the Kennedy enterprises. A Forbes Magazine article described Walsh as "the Kennedy family's tax expert, fortune guardian, and paymaster" and "the numbers man of the operation." Until his retirement from the Park Agency in 1979, Walsh remained close to all the members of the Kennedy clan, skillfully managing their personal finances, business investments, and family foundations. In a speech Walsh gave following JFK's assassination, he relayed first meeting the young Jack Kennedy at the Park Agency offices shortly after Kennedy had won the 1952 Massachusetts Senatorial election. Their friendship grew over the years, along with JFK's flourishing political career. Walsh continued handling the President's finances during visits to the White House and the family home in Palm Beach. During this time, Walsh became a confident of Jackie, who he continued to advise after she left the White House.
