N.d., n.p. Two photos are signed by Jimmy Stewart as "James Stewart" and the third photo is signed by Chuck Yeager as "Chuck Yeager." Near fine. The largest signed photo measures 10" x 8."

The lot is comprised of:

1. A black and white photo reprint of Jimmy Stewart receiving a medal, signed by him as "James Stewart" at lower right. Printed on Kodak photo paper. Pen-inscribed verso by a former collector as: "Jimmy Stewart served as a deputy leader on a bombing mission to Brunswick, Germany, 20 Feb 44, fly[ing] B-24 Liberators, assumed command over target." 2. A black and white photo reprint of Jimmy Stewart and fellow World War II-era airmen, signed by him as "James Stewart" at lower right. Printed on Kodak photo paper. Pen-inscribed verso by a former collector as: "USA7M 5/20a - Jimmy Stewart, 389th Grp. Operations officer - S/Sgt Keith M. Dibble (gunner) - 1/Lt. Roger Counselman (pilot) - S/Sgt. Joe Fiorentino (gunner) - 2/Lt. A.E. Wilesby (Nav.)." Near fine, 4.75" x 3.5."

Jimmy Stewart was the first major celebrity Hollywood actor to fight during World War II. He joined the U.S. Army Air Force (U.S.A.A.F.) - as the U.S. Air Force was called prior to 1947 - in February 1941. He then commanded B-24 combat missions in Europe. Eventually attaining the rank of Brigadier General, Stewart later flew B-52s, B-58s, and many other aircraft of the Vietnam War-era before retiring from the service in 1968.

3. A black and white photo reprint showing Jimmy Stewart and Chuck Yeager with a third unidentified officer, signed by Yeager as "Chuck Yeager" along the top edge. Printed on glossy photo paper. A few gentle wrinkles, else near fine, 10" x 8." Both Stewart and Yeager are wearing "YF-12A Interceptor" entrance badges; this was the twin-seat version of the Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance plane, the forerunner of the legendary SR-71 Blackbird.

Yeager had enlisted with the U.S.A.A.F. in September 1941, and graduated as a pilot in March 1943. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, eventually becoming a Brigadier General in 1969.
