Description:

Carter Jimmy

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter signed Limited Edition dolls, with certificate of authenticity

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter dolls signed by the 39th U.S. President (born 1924) and First Lady (born 1927) as "Jimmy Carter" and "Rosalynn Carter" respectively. The pair is part of a Limited Edition run of 100 dolls designed and manufactured for fundraising purposes in 1991. Both in near fine condition, accompanied by individual tags and a signed and notarized certificate of authenticity.

The hand-crafted dolls have screen printed faces and jointed cloth-covered bodies. Jimmy is dressed in a blue suit and red tie while Rosalynn wears a lace-trimmed blue dress. The Carters have signed in black felt-tip marker the backs of the dolls' heads, which are also numbered 13/100.

The certificate of authenticity reads in part, "Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Dolls, An Extremely Rare and Very Special Collector's Item Strictly Limited to Only 100 Pairs Signed and Numbered, Jimmy Doll Signed by Jimmy Carter, Rosalynn Doll Signed by Rosalynn Carter." A photo of the Carters holding their dolls appears above the signature panel. Four signees, including the manufacturer, signed the certificate on November 1, 1991. An embossed notary's seal is found at lower left.

The certificate reads: "This item sold only for fundraising to restore Plains High School, Plains, Georgia." Plains High School, located in the Carters' hometown of Plains in southwestern Georgia, operated between 1921-1979. Both Jimmy and Rosalynn were students there: Jimmy between 1937-1941, and Rosalynn, who was her class salutatorian. The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, housed in the restored high school, opened in 1996.
