Jimmy Carter Owned Mary Todd Lincoln Christmas Ornament, Ex. Carter Estate
Relic

Jimmy Carter's personally owned Christmas ornament honoring First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln. The ornament features a color portrait of Mary Todd Lincoln framed within an ornate decorative border accented in gold and deep red enamel-style coloring. A black ribbon hanger remains attached at the top for display purposes. The reverse side bears an engraved inscription reading: "National First Ladies' Library / First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln / 2001 / First Ladies National Historic Site / Canton, Ohio." The ornament was produced as part of a commemorative series celebrating America's First Ladies. The ornament and ribbon measure 2.65" x 6.5".

Accompanied by a provenance card stating that this item originated from the Brunk Auctions "The Estate of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter" sale which bears the signatures of noted authenticator John Reznikoff and historical expert Luke Pascal.

President Jimmy Carter served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981 and became internationally respected for his lifelong commitment to humanitarian efforts, diplomacy, and public service. Beyond his presidency, Carter earned global admiration through decades of charitable initiatives, election monitoring, peace advocacy, and work with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity.

Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of President Abraham Lincoln, served as First Lady during one of the most turbulent periods in American history. Occupying the White House throughout the Civil War, she witnessed firsthand the immense personal and national sacrifices that defined her husband's presidency. Despite enduring profound personal tragedy, including the death of her son Willie Lincoln while in the White House and ultimately the assassination of President Lincoln in 1865, Mary Todd Lincoln remains one of the most historically significant First Ladies in American history.

The National First Ladies' Library and Historic Site was established to preserve and promote the contributions of America's First Ladies through educational programs, exhibitions, and commemorative artifacts such as this ornament. Pieces honoring Mary Todd Lincoln are especially meaningful due to her direct association with Abraham Lincoln, widely regarded as one of the most important presidents in United States history.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
