JFK & Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. Remarkable 15 pc. Archive- Connections to Ambassadorship; The President in WWII

An extensive archive relating to President John F. Kennedy and his father, Joseph P. Kennedy Sr.; spanning nearly thirty years, ca. 1938-1968. Totaling 15 items in all, the majority hold connections to Kennedy Sr.'s time as Ambassador to the United Kingdom, as well as the future President's service during WWII. Consists largely of various press photographs, cut signatures, and signed first-day covers. Varying degrees of creasing, toning, silvering, darkened handling marks, and minor tearing throughout. A very good collection, overall. Please see below and accompanying images for further information on contents.

Highlights include:

- (6) Vintage wire photos, all depicting Joseph Kennedy Sr., ranging in date between 1938-1961. The majority of images depict Kennedy as U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, with others showing him with daughter Eunice and father-in-law John Francis Fitzgerald. All feature mounted press captions on verso, with some marked by a stamp of receipt from the Examiner Reference Library.

- Two Joseph P. Kennedy signatures, including one cut and one autographed page.

- Photograph of JFK and the crew of torpedo boat PT-109, which was commanded by the future President during World War II. The vessel was later sunk by a Japanese destroyer, turning Kennedy into a war hero. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the Robert L. White Collection.

- (5) Signed first day covers commemorating Kennedy as President and World War II veteran, ranging in date between 1964-1968. Includes signatures from several of JFK's PT-109 crewmates; commander of the Japanese destroyer Amagiri Hanami Kohei (1909-1994); as well as that of Biuku Gasa (1923-2005) and Eroni Kumana (1918-2014), two citizens of the Solomon Islands who found Kennedy and his surviving crew following the boat's collision.
