JFK Assassination: Extraordinary ALS from JFK's Sister Eunice on the Opening of the "6th Floor Museum" in Dallas
ALS

Autograph letter written by John F. Kennedy's sister Eunice to Melody Miller, family friend of the Kennedys, discussing the opening of the 6th Floor Museum in Dallas, possibly the only known letter in which she discusses her feelings toward the assassination site. 2pp, recto and verso on Special Olympics International Headquarters stationery (crossed out and envelope marked Personal), 7.25" x 10.5", Washington, DC, July 26, 1989. Page shows flattened mail folds, else very fine. Provenance: Ex-Estate of Melody Miller, confidant to the Kennedy family, and later deputy press secretary to Senator Ted Kennedy.

The letter reads:

"Dear Melody,

I just received your magnificent note on the Dallas Museum Display on President Kennedy. I think now, at least you see there is something good about the exhibit & that is in your own words 'It is not a tourist spot as much as it is a pilgrimage' and secondly that young people knowing the many facets of his personality that he gave to our political life can think of the goodness, challenge & excitement & even laughter & joy that political life can be for any of us. So I am now happy that the memorial has been established, & that feeling is gained greatly from your note & from your influence on the development of the exhibit over these many months.

Thank you,
with affection & admiration

Eunice."
