Kennedy John 1917 - 1963 John F. Kennedy, who famously injured himself in the PT 109 incident, asks Boston's postmaster to help an injured war veteran with an appointment - "If you would be good enough to take the aforementioned circumstances into consideration and, if at all possible, act favorably..."
Typed Letter Signed "John Kennedy" as U.S. Senator, 1 page, 8" x 10.5". Washington, November 17, 1955. To Boston Postmaster Joseph P. Finn. Fine condition.
Senator Kennedy writes to Postmaster Finn of Boston about the situation of Frank Gumbs of Roxbury, Massachusetts, "who is presently employed as a indefinite substitute letter carrier... and who is most desirous of converting to a career appointment as a permanent substitute letter carrier... Mr. Gumbs, a veteran, was injured in the service but has never had his disability listed in his records... he is in the process of obtaining a current letter... showing him to be in receipt of a compensable service connected disability rating of 10% or more. However, this matter may take several weeks to complete. I wonder, therefore, when appointments are being made, if you would be good enough to take the aforementioned circumstances into consideration and, if at all possible, act favorably in Mr. Gumbs' behalf..."
