Jacqueline Kennedy Notes re: New York Apartment Décor, Including Reframing "John's Photo"
AN
A collection of four autograph notes (unsigned) written by Jackie ca. 1978 about the framing of images in her legendary Fifth Avenue apartment. Sizes vary, as does condition, which is overall good.

Offered with a period Polaroid photograph showing a few of Jackie's framed pieces on the apartment wall -- perhaps the very ones which she discusses in these notes! Also includes transmittal cover bearing stamped franking signature, addressed to Jackie's framer, J. Pocker.

The notes include:

1. An autograph note (unsigned), one page, 8" x 3.5", [n.p., n.d.]. On a torn sheet of yellow lined paper to Nancy:

"Nancy

Can you get smudges of green ink off the last 3 lines of Caroline's poem - with a typewriter eraser - if you can't, ok - then send it to Pocker for a narrow bright red frame…"

2. An autograph note (unsigned), one page, 8" x 12", [n.p., n.d.], a note on a folded piece of legal size yellow lined paper, in full:

"Pocker - 63rd & Lexington - Picture Framers.
Take to have new glass put in.

Black mirror
John's frame with photograph
French picture with blue watercolor

Tell them recommended by Mrs. Earl Smith."

Earl E. T. Smith (1903-1991) was an American financier and diplomat who served as the ambassador to Cuba between 1957-1959. He may be best remembered, however, as Jackie's partner in the famous image of the two dancing at a formal party at Palm Beach Towers, 1961.

3. Autograph note (unsigned), one page, 5" x 7.25", [n.p., n.d.], on yellow lined notepaper, in full:
"Please get this picture of bow at Christmas framed by Pocker mounted on a white mat - on a narrow black classic frame If they can paint over the torn parts with a touch of gray paint -
that would be a great help."

4. Autograph note (unsigned), one page, 5" x 7.25", [n.p., n.d.], on yellow lined notepaper, in full:

"Hang picture so bottom is 11 inches above sofa top But attach wire so that picture can be raised or lowered without wire showing Would light on present picture be too small for larger picture? I may put light fixture in it later." Docketed Sept 1978 in another hand at bottom.
