Description:

Enola Gay - Jacob Beser posing in front of Enola Gay photo signed by 4 crew!!

A black and white glossy 8" x 10" photo of Jacob Beser (1921-1994) posing in front of the Enola Gay, the B-29 bomber which dropped the atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima, Japan in the summer of 1945. Beser served as a radio specialist on the Enola Gay, and is the only Air Force strike crew man to have served on both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb dropping missions on August 6th and 9th respectively. Boldly signed by photo subject Jacob Beser in black ink as "Jacob Beser" at bottom right, as well as by three other important crewmembers from the Enola Gay: Paul Tibbets in blue ink as "Paul Tibbets / Pilot"; Theodore Van Kirk in blue ink as "Theodore J. 'Dutch' Van Kirk"; and Tom Ferebee in blue ink as "Tom Ferebee / Bombadier". The last three signatures are inscribed over the plane fuselage. Near fine condition.

An incredible four times signed iconic photo of the Enola Gay by crew members. Colonel Paul Tibbets piloted the mission that dropped the atomic bomb "Little Boy" on the city of Hiroshima. The bomb's explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure.
