New York, NY, ca. December 1966
Jackie Kennedy Signed "The Burden and the Glory" Inscribed to JFK's Secretary Evelyn Lincoln- JSA Authentic
Signed book

A deluxe, limited edition copy of "The Burden and the Glory" by John F. Kennedy. New York: Harper & Row, 1964. Octavo, 293pp. Signed and inscribed on the front flyleaf by the former First Lady: "To dear Mrs. Lincoln who shared the burden and the glory-/ with love/ Jackie/ Christmas 1966." Housed within the publisher's marbled slipcase with interior featuring matching endpapers. Front cover is embossed in gold detailing with the Presidential Seal of the United States and Evelyn Lincoln's initials at lower right. Slipcase exhibits moderate rubbing to lower panel and corners. Light wear to book's spine, with additional rubbing to top and bottom typical with this style of binding. Overall, very good with fantastic inscription. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from JSA.

From a limited edition of 100 copies, printed the year following President Kennedy's death in Dallas, Texas. A handful of copies of the deluxe edition were personally inscribed and distributed by Jackie Kennedy, with others given to attendees at the first John F. Kennedy Presidential Library fundraiser in 1964. Jackie's unique and moving inscription honors Lincoln's dedication to the former President, and reflects their shared experiences of mutual grief after his death.

Evelyn Lincoln (1909-1995) was the personal secretary to John F. Kennedy from his election to the United States Senate in 1953 until his assassination in 1963. On the day of his death, Lincoln rode in the motorcade a few cars behind Kennedy with his personal physician, George G. Burkley.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
