ALS, 2pp, 7.75" x 12.25", written on yellow lined paper and dated October 28, (1959). The fascinating letter was written to Manuel Maitre, a journalist for the French Canadian newspaper La Patrie. Jackie Kennedy writes an in depth response to Maitre's request regarding a biography of the future first lady. Within the letter the name "Bouvier" is signed in total 6 times, "Kennedy" is signed 4 times, and the famous First Lady boldly signs the letter at its conclusion as "Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy." In fine condition.

This unique ALS offers a personal glimpse into Jackie Kennedy's heritage and family history. Dated just prior to her husband John F. Kennedy's election to the United States Presidency, the letter delves into her French origins, mentioning her ancestors' involvement in the American Revolution and their migration to America. Jacqueline provides details about her father, John Vernou Bouvier III, and outlines her own life milestones, including her marriage to JFK and her role in his Senate re-election campaign. Etienne Bouvier of Grenoble fought for American
Independance as a grenadier in the
Grenoble regiment under General Rochambeau.

His son Michel Bouvier was born at Pont
St. Esprit in 1792. He migrated to America
in 1815, shortly prior to the end of the Reign
of Terror and after Joseph Bonaparte, his friend who
had succeeded his abdication in 1815 had
come to the United States. Michel Bouvier
settled permanently in Philadelphia where he
died in 1874. He was my great
grandfather.

My father was John Vernou Bouvier III of
New York City who died August 3 1957.
