Kennedy Jacqueline
Jackie Kennedy ALS with New York City travel tips

7" x 5.5" color postcard inscribed overall and signed by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy (1929-1994) as "Jackie" verso. In very good to near fine condition. Minor  isolated foxing verso, and with a few slightly blunted corners recto. From the collection of Elisa Sullivan (1935-2012), Jackie's mother Janet Bouvier Auchincloss's personal caregiver and companion.

Jackie Kennedy moved to the Upper East Side after her husband's assassination. Thus, it was as a seasoned New Yorker that Jackie encouraged Elisa to have fun but stay safe. Jackie wrote: "Welcome dear Elisa - Have the best time in New York with Marie. I hope you do many fun things together - Go skating in the park and don’t go to Times Square after midnight - much love, Jackie".

Jackie Kennedy had a lifelong interest in art history, which she studied first at Vassar College and then at George Washington University. This might explain the postcard subject: Jozef Mehoffer's 1911 oil on canvas "The May Sun", then in the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.

Elisa Sullivan had started working as a caregiver for Jackie's mother Janet Bouvier Auchincloss (1907-1989) in 1979, after the former First Lady's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. After Jackie's death in 1994, Elisa worked for Jackie's half-brother Hugh "Yusha" Auchincloss III (1927-2015) as a book-keeper, house-keeper, and chef at Hammersmith Farm in Newport, Rhode Island.
