Description:

Kennedy Jacqueline

1pp ALS inscribed overall and signed by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (1929-1994) as "Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis" at bottom. On Crane's watermarked pale blue stationery paper with "3044 O Street, NW, Washington, D.C." letterhead. Addressed in Jackie's hand verso. In near fine condition, with expected paper folds and a few minor wrinkles. Sheet measuring 5.75" x 7.75". From the collection of Elisa Sullivan (1935-2012), Janet Bouvier Auchincloss's personal caregiver and companion.

In this undated letter, Jackie Kennedy wrote: "Dear Elisa - You are always so kind to me - and of course you just make my mother's happiness - thank you forever, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis".

Elisa Sullivan started working as a caregiver for Jackie's mother Janet Bouvier Auchincloss (1907-1989) in 1979, after the former First Lady's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. After Jackie's death in 1994, Elisa worked for Jackie's half-brother Hugh "Yusha" Auchincloss III (1927-2015) as a book-keeper, house-keeper, and chef at Hammersmith Farm in Newport, Rhode Island.

Jackie Kennedy inherited the four-story, 10,000-square-foot Victorian mansion on O Street in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC in 1963. It had been the home of Jackie's mother Janet and stepfather Hugh Auchincloss (1897-1976). Its attic stored Jackie's pink Chanel suit until being transferred to the National Archives.
