HUGE Early Photography Archive, 100+ Pieces Total- Photo Albums, Tintypes, Cabinet Cards, CDVs

Extensive late nineteenth-early twentieth-century photography archive totaling over 100 pieces in all, consisting of two photo albums, one of which is in near pristine condition, 51 loose tintypes, 16 CDVs, 45 cabinet cards, and 4 daguerreotypes (3 ninth plates and 1 sixth plate). Expected degrees of foxing, soiling, surface cracks and scratches, and tearing to corners throughout. Please refer to images for further information on condition and contents. Overall, good condition- a tremendous collection!

Highlights include:

1. Pair of two photo albums, each measuring 5" x 6", n.p., undated. The first contains 50pp of CDVs and tintype portraits depicting men, women, and children alike- minor scratches and bumps to embossed leather cover, with expected wear to photos, else in immaculate condition. The second is empty with detached/exposed spine. Clasps holding cover together are still functional.

2. Group of 16 CDV portraits, with many featuring revenue stamps on verso, the majority measuring 2.25" x 4". During the Civil War, an act of Congress passed a new luxury tax on photographs, which required the photographer to adhere a revenue stamp to the reverse side of the image indicating the proper denominational value.

3. Group of 51 loose tintypes, the majority measuring 2.25" x 3", n.p., undated. Depicts striking, full body portraits of men, women, and children with some featuring rose tinted details on visage. Expected surface scratches and presence of oxidation to some. 

4. Group of 3 ninth plates and 1 sixth plate all retaining their original cases, measuring between 2.5" x 3" and 3" x 3.75" respectively.

5. Group of 45 cabinet cards from studios throughout the U.S., mainly Tennessee and Massachusetts, the majority measuring 4.25" x 6.5". Features portraits of men, women, and children as well as several domestic scenes.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers.
