Herbert Hoover TLS Re: the Navy League

 

1p typed letter signed by President Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) as "Herbert Hoover" at lower right. Written at the White House in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 1931. On watermarked cream bifold stationery with "The White House / Washington" letterhead. The remaining pages are blank. Bearing no fewer than five embossed seals from "The Womans National Foundation / 1921" positioned mostly at upper right; one of the embossed seals touches the beginning of "Herbert". With expected light paper folds, and isolated edge darkening, else near fine. 7" x 8.875".

 

President Hoover requested that William M. Galvin, Executive Secretary of the Navy League, provide him with a complete list of the organization's members.

 

In part:

 

"I would be very glad if you could furnish me with a full list of the members of the Navy League. If you have no extra copies of such list I would be glad to furnish the necessary clerical assistance to make it…"

 

The Navy League of the United States had been established in 1902 under the auspices of President Theodore Roosevelt to provide a support system for maritime service members and their families. The organization, which encompasses the U.S. Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Merchant Marine, still operates today. Its mission is primarily through education and advocacy.

All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice, unless you inform us otherwise, immediately upon your receipt of invoice***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers.
