Unnumbered check from E. Hill & Sons State Bank of Colon, Michigan dated June 17, 1935 inscribed and signed by popular early 20th century illusionist Harry Blackstone (1885-1965) as "Harry Blackstone" in payee line. Peach colored check with personalized letterhead reading "Harry Blackstone, The World's Greatest Magician" in upper left corner. Check in the amount of $80 was issued to Carl H. Behnke, the manager of Lafler Moving & Transit Company of nearby Battle Creek, Michigan, and is endorsed verso by hand and stamp. In very good condition, with expected folds, wrinkles, and light soiling. Measures 8.125" x 3".

This check was likely payment for transporting Blackstone's props to another show location.

Henry Bouton Blackstone aka Harry Blackstone dominated the Midwestern magic circuit in the early 20th century. Blackstone's shows were classy, and the magician typically dressed in white tails. His troupe consisted of costumed assistants and a pit orchestra. Audience goers viewed stunts like the Kellar Levitation, The Vanishing Bird Cage, The Floating Lightbulb, and Sawing a Woman in Half.
