Gus Grisson & All Original Project Mercury Astronauts Signed Photos - Fantastic!
Signed photograph

A pair of photos which, together, offer signatures of each of the original NASA astronauts who participated in the Mercury Program -- including the very rare signature of Virgil "Gus" Grissom, who perished in the Apollo-Saturn 204 fire. Each image measures 10" x 8" and features the crew standing before the US Air Force FE-158. In fine condition. These photographs have been pre-certified by space expert Steve Zarelli. If you wish to purchase a comprehensive Zarelli COA, please contact him directly via zarellispaceauthentication.com.

The first photo is an original NASA image with title at bottom and legend on verso. Signed by: Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, John Glenn, Walter Schirra, Alan Shepard and Deke Slayton. One astronaut has inscribed "To Robert" at top.

The second photo is the same pose as the first, without NASA title of backstamp, and is signed by Gus Grissom alone. Bears an ownership sticker on verso, otherwise fine.

Project Mercury was the first human spaceflight program of the United States, running from 1958 through 1963. An early highlight of the Space Race, its goal was to put a man into Earth's orbit and return him safely, ideally before the Soviet Union. The Mercury Seven were the group of seven astronauts selected to fly spacecraft for Project Mercury. They are also referred to as the Original Seven and Astronaut Group 1.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
