Grover Cleveland 4pp ALS Selling His Horses w/ Hand Addressed Envelope, PSA Authenticated
ALS
A lengthy ALS signed "Grover Cleveland" at conclusion in which he discusses the selling of his horses. 4pp, measuring 5" x 8", New York, dated April 24, 1889. With its original transmittal envelope, hand addressed by Cleveland to one A. A. Wilson of Washington, D.C. Exhibits even age toning throughout, with expected letter folds; moderate wear to envelope, including scattered soiling and clipped corners. Else, very good- dated just two months after leaving his first term as President. Accompanied by two Letters of Authenticity from PSA, one for the letter itself and the other for the envelope.

In part:

"Your letter is received and I agree with you as to the sale, except I should dreadfully hate to see the horses go for the amount you state- $300 or $350. They ought to be worth more. One of them & his mate cost me $1100… Perhaps Wood Brothers would like to get the team and harness… I have thought that maybe Wood Bros. had an object in putting them so low.

Since reading your letter I have had half a notion to send them to Oak View; but then would not be enough for them to do there to pay for their keeping I am afraid. So they had better be sold for the best you can get. I hope they will fall into good careful hands.

…On the whole it is all right and if you will see that the sale is fairly [illegible] and the things are sold I shall be entirely content. You need not be a bit afraid about that…."

This lot comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
