Typed Letter Signed "Golda Meir" as Israeli Foreign Minister, 1 page, 8.5" x 11". Jerusalem, September 15, 1963. In Hebrew, with full English translation. To Member of the Knesset, Moshe Unna, Jerusalem. Two loose leaf holes in blank right margin. Fine condition.



In full, "On the 15th anniversary of the date on which the U.N. General Assembly issued the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the member states of the U.N. have agreed to celebrate this day in a fitting manner.



"As chairperson of the national committee for the celebration of Human Rights Day, I wish to ask you to serve on this committee, the role of which is to determine appropriate ceremonies, meetings and events to mark this day.



"The Declaration was issued on December 10, 1948 and the 15th anniversary will thus fall on 24 Kislev 5724.



"The committee will meet at the end of October. We will inform you of the exact date and time; at this point I would appreciate if you would let me know that you agree in principle to serve on the committee … "



Born in Germany, Moshe Unna (1902-1989) was Delegate to Assembly of Representatives and member of the National Council (1940-1949), a Member of the Knessest (1949-1969), and Deputy Minister of Education and Culture from 1956-1958.
