Overall very good condition. 1p. 10.5" x 8.5".

In part: "…Glad Mrs. Walker acted. Will send her congratulations. Will send you $500 before long! Am not worried about slow results…Design of card - o.k. Mathews - prints - o.k…".

Along with a copy of a typed letter by Wright (not signed), one page, 10.5 x 8.5 in., [n.p.], July 16, 1951, to Vere C. Morris regarding expensive insurance, possibly for a new commission. Morris was owner of the V. C. Morris Gift Shop (a department store) located in the only Frank Lloyd Wright building in San Francisco and built in 1949.

Wright had been contracted to design and build his one and only oceanfront home for Della Walker in 1945. Situated in Carmel-on-the-Sea, the single-story house was completed in 1952. A widow at the time, Walker told Wright that she wanted a house "…as protection from the wind and privacy from the road and a house as enduring as the rocks but as transparent and charming as the waves and delicate as the seashore. You are the only man who can do this—will you help me?"

In early 1951, Della Walker committed to the construction of the home, and letters accompanying this piece discuss various aspects of the build.

Simultaneously, Wright was at work on the Arthur Mathews House in Atherton, California. This diamond-shaped Usonian home was designed in 1950 and constructed in 1952, and, as with every one of Wright's creations, is "at one" with its surroundings. Little is known of the family who commissioned the house.

For himself, Aaron Green was at work building out the San Francisco office as well as drafting designs for the Walker house. These activities obviously included substantial sums of money, and Green somewhat abashedly requests some not only for building materials, but for his own outlay in creating a suitable office space and working for Wright in general, which he dubs a "privilege and pleasure."
