Four Large Comic Strips, Original Artwork, 1945 to 1949: "Gordo", "Cap Stubbs and Tippie", "Nancy", and "Henry"

A group of four delightful comic strips from 1945 to 1949, from a variety of illustrators including Gus Arriola, Edwina Dumm, Carl Anderson, and Ernie Bushmiller. Includes the following:

1. "Cap Stubbs and Tippie" by Edwina Dumm. November 20, Ca. 1945. Measures 17" x 5.5". Distributed by The George Matthew Adams Service, Inc. Uncle Ben's parrot, Polly has flown away and is playing tricks on Grandma Sarah. The syndicated newspaper comic strip ran for nearly 50 years, from August 21, 1918, until September 3, 1966. Edwina Dumm is America's first full-time female editorial cartoonist.

2. "Nancy" by Ernie Bushmiller. February 11, 1946. Measures 19" x 5.25" (sight), matted to the overall size of 21.75" x 8.25". Distributed by United Feature Syndicate, Inc. Titled "Fresh Out of Practice", in which Nancy fears she'll forget how to swim before summer comes. The strip was originally called "Fritzi Ritz" but changed names after switching focus from Fritzi to her niece, Nancy. "Nancy" officially launched in October 1938 and is still running to this day.

3. "Henry" by Carl Anderson. March 4, 1947. Measures 20.25" x 6.25" (sight), matted and framed to the overall size of 24.75" x 10.75". Distributed by King Features Syndicate, Inc. The small, mute Henry purchases a "heavy-duty" rope in order to hang a picture of an elephant. The strip was created by Anderson in 1932 and was illustrated by him until 1942, when he had to retire due to arthritis. The titular character, Henry, is a young boy who never speaks and is sometimes even drawn without a mouth.

4. "Gordo" by Gus Arriola. November 18, 1949. Measures 22" x 6". Distributed by United Feature Syndicate, Inc. Titled "Not Just Blarney", depicting Gus being able to see and talk to a Leprechaun! Drawn by Mexican-American artist Gustavo "Gus" Arriola, the comic ran from November 24, 1941, until March 2, 1985. Peanuts artist Charles Schulz has described "Gordo" as "probably the most beautifully drawn strip in the history of the business."

Minor toning to all, with varying degrees of light soiling to some.
