Flown Hasselblad 70mm Film Magazine - Used on Space Shuttle Discovery STS-102!
Relic

A superb space-flown item: a 70mm Hasselblad film magazine measuring 4.25" x 3.5" x 3.5", manufactured in 1995 in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1995. This magazine was Class I flight hardware and prepared for flight use in the Space Shuttle Discovery STS-102 (2001). It may have also been used in other missions as well!

The magazine bears the NASA serial number 5155 and Hasselblad serial number 33 EC 10432. NASA added Velcro on three sides of the magazine to secure the magazine and dark slide in Zero G, a parts decal, film type ID labels, gray tape to cover the programming port on the top of the magazine, and a white lined label for crew notes on the bottom. Accompanied by the original NASA parts bag and parts tag with matching serial numbers. Included are three prints made from the film in this magazine, each bearing the imprint "STS-102" at the bottom.

STS-102 was the first Expedition Crew rotation from Expedition 1 to Expedition 2. The primary cargo was the Leonardo, the Italian Space Agency-built Multipurpose Logistics Module. NASA's 103rd overall mission and the 8th Space Station Assembly Flight, STS-102 mission launched on March 8, 2001 aboard the Space Shuttle Orbiter Discovery.

Hasselblad cameras and film magazines were a staple of NASA's photographic work from the 1960s until the early 2000s. The cameras and magazines were known for their quality and reliability, and were easy to use for a variety of purposes, and were used to document history-making missions such as Apollo 11: Armstrong's first photograph taking his historic first steps, iconic images of Buzz Aldrin next to the American flag, the "Moonman" image of Aldrin with Armstrong reflected in his visor, and "bootprint" images.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
