Felix Frankfurter Display Featuring 2 Complete Signatures & 3 Items of Supreme Court Stationery

A handsome display dedicated to Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court Felix Frankfurter (1882-1965), including two complete signatures as "Felix Frankfurter" and three items of Supreme Court stationery. The pieces in this lot include a typed letter signed, a signed card, an original transmittal envelope, two high-quality reproduction photos, and a decorative name plate inscribed in calligraphy. Some dents and dings to the mat verso, else near fine. Matted to a completed size of 23" x 18.625" x 1."

The lot includes:

1. A 1p typed letter signed by Frankfurter as "Felix Frankfurter" at center right. Dated June 12, 1942 on a single sheet of stationery with "Supreme Court of the United States / Washington, D.C. / Chambers of Justice Felix Frankfurter" letterhead. Frankfurter wrote to a well-wisher named H.O. Antman of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in part: "Let me acknowledge your friendly and courteous letter of June 6th…" Expected paper folds, else near fine. Sight size of the letter is 5.375" x 8.625." Displayed at upper left. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope complete with World War II-era postmarks and stamps, displayed below and to the right.

2. A "Supreme Court of the United States / Washington, D.C." card signed as "Felix Frankfurter" at the center. Laid down on a larger mount. Displayed near upper right.

3. Mounted above the signed card is a decorative name plate inscribed as "Frankfurter / Felix Frankfurter / Associate Justice / of the / United States Supreme Court."

4. At center top is a black and white high-quality photo reproduction depicting President Franklin D. Roosevelt overseeing Justice Frankfurter's delivery of the Oath of Office to U.S. Secretary of the Navy Colonel Frank Knox on July 11, 1940.

5. Just below is another image showing Frankfurter being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction by President Lyndon B. Johnson on December 6, 1963, per President John F. Kennedy's posthumously executed Executive Order.

Felix Frankfurter graduated from Harvard Law School in 1906 with a superb academic record. He soon joined the faculty of his alma mater, serving as a Professor of Law from 1914-1924, and as a Professor of Administrative Law from 1924-1939. The New York lawyer was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, whose close advisor he later became. Frankfurter served on the bench from 1941 until retirement in 1962.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
