Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962) was the distant cousin and wife of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Serving as first lady for the entirety of her husband's Presidency from 1933-1945, she remains the longest-serving first lady in American history. After her husband's death, Eleanor remained active in politics and became America’s first delegate to the United Nations.
