A great set of Valentino memorabilia with an interesting signature cut of the Valentino's. Winfred (Valentino) Shaughnessy, known by her stage name of Natacha Rambova was an American silent film costume and set designer. The two married May 13, 1922 in Mexico but did not legally marry in the United States until March 14, 1923 just 2 weeks before they signed this guest book together at the Algonquin Hotel. In fact their new marriage was so controversial that Valentino who at the time was only recently divorced from Jean Acker become embroiled in a bigamy trial. The trial was a huge sensation forcing the pair to have their marriage annulled and separated for a year.

The Algonquin Hotel in New York City is considered a historic hotel and today is designated as a New York City Historic Landmark, The 181-room hotel, opened in 1902. Noted for its frequent visitor who at the time called themselves the Algonguin Round table, this hotel boasted a celebrated group of New York City writers, critics, actors, and writers.

The fantastic photos included Valentino in "The Sheik", probably his most famous film which intended to capitalize on the star power of Valentino, and cast him in a role that would solidify his reputation as the "Latin lover". The Sheik which came out in 1921 heralded Valentino playing the starring role of Sheik Ahmed Ben Hassan. The film was a major success and would go on to define not only his career but his image and legacy. The other photo displays Valentino from Blood and Sand which Valentino personally considered this one of his best films.

A fantastic set which could easily be framed together with the Valentino signature cut.
