Fantastic FDR TLS written "Aboard President's Train" about the Campaign for Presidency in Westchester, a Key Battleground County.

TLS, written to Lawrence H. Tasker of White Plains, New York about "the progress of the campaign in Westchester County", a key battleground for Roosevelt in the upcoming election. 7" x 9", October 16, 1936, Washington D.C. The letter is boldly signed by the President as "Franklin D. Roosevelt." Expected folds from mailing, else fine.

In 1936, Westchester County, New York was a key battleground in the presidential election between Franklin D. Roosevelt and Alfred Landon. The election was a referendum on Roosevelt's New Deal reforms, which had been highly controversial and had divided the nation. During the Great Depression, Roosevelt's policies had become increasingly popular in Westchester, and the county was seen as an important bellwether of the national mood.

The county had traditionally been Republican, but the 1932 election had seen a dramatic shift in favor of Roosevelt. In the 1936 election, Roosevelt won by a landslide, taking over 68 percent of the vote. This was a decisive victory that showed the power of the New Deal and its appeal to the public.

The election was a major step forward for the Democratic Party in Westchester County, which had long been dominated by the Republican Party. It was a sign that the public was ready to embrace the New Deal reforms, and that the Democratic Party had a chance of winning future elections in the county.

The election was also a major victory for Roosevelt, who was re-elected to a second term. His success in Westchester County was a major factor in his larger victory in the national election. Roosevelt's victory in the county was a sign that the New Deal reforms were popular, and that the country was ready for the next four years of Roosevelt's leadership.
